So, Who Should Bring the Cigars?

Remember being a young man where your best college buddies were calling you to tell you about the good news?  Either your friend was telling you about an engagement or a baby on the way.  Of course, you both want to gather your friends and celebrate.  For most guys, no one is quite sure who is responsible for providing the cigars.

Were you the guy on the receiving end of the good news for your friend?  Go out and buy him a glass of whiskey and a cigar.  Don’t worry; you’re not responsible for providing for the whole crew.  After all, it’s his good news, and not theirs.  The other guys owe him a drink and a cigar in the future.  Your buddy is just glad to be celebrating the good news with you and the rest of his best friends.  Don’t forget… You still owe him a wedding or baby gift too.

Were you the guy to break the good news about a new chapter in your life?  Traditionally, this makes you the guy to pass out the cigars.  Whether your with your groomsmen or outside of the delivery room, it’s on you to pass out the cigars.  Some of your friends will surprise you with a celebratory bottle and cigar anyways.  Go ahead and light up the cigar he brought for you.  It shows your appreciation and gratitude immediately.
